VMAS Shocker

MTV

Beyonce-MTV-Music-Video-Awards-Performance-GIFs-2016 (1)

I have never been a fan of any award show on MTV, but last night’s VMAS changed my mind. So, I’m flipping back and forth between a couple of shows: “Real Housewives of New Jersey”, “Power”, and The ID Channel. The whole time I keep checking back to see when Beyonce’ will perform. The first thing I noticed about the award show was that there were more quality celebrities in attendance than previous shows. The commentators (whoever they were) were still wack and annoying, but the overall show was better. The highlight of the show was of course Beyonce’s “Lemonade” performance.

Praying For Lamar Odom

NBA

Lamar

Lamar

I remember the day Lamar Odom was traded to the Lakers I had a conversation with someone about how him and Kobe would clash because both had the abilities to be a team leader. I continued to follow Lamar’s successes and failures over the years. Since I was always a fan of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”, it was a surprise to see Lamar on the show dating one of the Kardashian sisters. And I must admit, out of the three, I was glad that it was Khloe Kardashian that he had fallen for. It was evident on the show that Khloe genuinely loved Lamar and was trying to make their marriage work.

LHHATL Reunion

The LHHATL Reunion Part 1 aired last night. Besides the usual ratchet and ghetto antics of the Atl. crew, two things stuck out to me:

  1. How much Joseline Hernandez (@MsJoseline) has changed.

2. How disrespectful Lil’ Scrappy (@reallilscrappy) and Erica Dixon (@MsEricaDixon) were towards each other.

BBHMM……The Tragedy of Marie Holmes

Marie Holmes and her winning lottery ticket

Marie Holmes and her winning lottery ticket

Last February when single mom, Marie Holmes won $88 million dollars in the Powerball Lottery. It was a triumph for all black folks and an even a greater victory for single black women all over the world. It was portrayed in the media that Marie was raising her four children alone and one was a special needs child. She said that she would spend her winnings on a new home, her children, and a charity. Well, she must have made a contribution to the “Desperate Women In Need of Men” charity. That’s the only explanation I can come up with as to why Marie Holmes would spend $9 million of her lottery winnings to get her boyfriend/fiancee out of jail.

Real Talk…….Tax Season

I have never been a fan of podcasts. I always found them to be boring. I couldn’t understand the concept and couldn’t figure out the obsession that people had with them. In the last couple of years I have been following @Taxstone on Twitter. He always gives his honest opinion about whatever is on his mind no matter who he offends. In a time where people are trying so hard to be “politically correct” and not make their sponsors mad, this was a breath of fresh of air. I started noticing people tweeting about his podcast “Tax Season”. I ignored it for as long as I could until I finally gave in one day.

OK, I’m RELOADED!!!

TORONTO, ON – AUGUST 03: Drake perfrrms during 2015 OVO Fest at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on August 3, 2015 in Toronto, Canada.

I hate that it took Meek Mill’s foolish tweets to get me back blogging. But this whole foolish beef between him and @drake has put a spark back in the game of social media. So, for the longest all we had to look forward to was the reality show tweets, new albums, boyfriend/girlfriend drama, NBA finals, lame award shows, “break babies” and all the other b.s that floods Twitter and Instagram daily.

Gucci This, Gucci That, Gucci Everything

Gear

Boy has the rap game changed over the years. Men use to rap about the dope game and  women with big butts. Female emcees would talk about designer labels and fashion designers. Lately there is a new trend. Men are name dropping labels and high-end fashions in their songs. Rappers like Future, Kanye West, T.I., 2 Chainz and Jay-Z are talking about designers that I can’t even pronounce let alone afford. (Margiela)  I know some of the labels the rappers are sporting are knock-offs, but  just the fact that they know about them intrigues me. I think it’s a fad and probably won’t last too much longer, but I can say that it is very impressive and is definitely a good look, fellas.

Pump It Up

A-T-L Shawty

Lately there have been a lot of peculiar looking a—s on tv. With all these new ghetto reality shows on the air one can’t help but notice a strange trend that has started surfacing. The waist to a-s ratios. Almost every show has some big booty woman running around who probably didn’t look like that a couple of years ago. The latest fad for the last couple of years has been butt augmentation. It has become so popular, that women  don’t care if the doctor’s are even licensed or not. One woman was busted for giving the butt injections out of a Motel 6 room. They are done in secret locations, apartments, garages, and sometimes they will come to your home. There are so many horror stories about the injections going wrong that I don’t see why anyone would take that chance. Reports of infections, leaks, and even the women having to get the solutions drained are only a few. Some say mother’s are signing waivers so their daughters as young as 17 years-old can get the shots. Now that I think back, I have to wonder how many video hoes models, that everyone was jocking really had a natural body. Makes you say hmmmmmmm………..

Ewwwwwwwww

Is There an End in Sight?

Dirty South

Florida A & M University’s troubles continue to mount.  It’s like a car spinning out of control as the university struggles to save face and regain its place as one of the top HBCUs in the country. James Ammons, President of FAMU, has resigned, effective October 11, 2012 and will become a tenured professor at the university.  Should he have resigned when the circumstances surrounding Robert Champion’s death first surfaced? Some say that hazing has been on ongoing issue at FAMU for several years.  School administrators were aware of it, but they never did anything about it.  As a matter of fact, a few days before the infamous game between Bethune-Cookman University and FAMU, several band members reported that band members were being hazed and a suggestion was made to suspend the band prior to the game.  But knowing how we love money and recognition, it was decided that the band would perform as planned.  That’s not to say the same incident would not have happened at another time, but maybe Champion would have lived longer than he did.  I have no doubt that he would have gone through the same beating he endured prior to his death, just not the night that he died. We may never know the whole story, but what we do know is that Robert Champion, a drum major at Florida A & M University, is dead.

Camp Crystal Lake

Usher

Lake Lanier

What’s up with all these deadly accidents on Lake Lanier in Georgia recently? The most recent being Kile Glover, Tameka Foster Raymond’s son. Obviously, Kile is  the most publicized, since he’s Usher’s stepson, but there are more victims than him. On Sunday, July 1, 23 year-old Jember Hernandez drowned while swimming with family and friends. On Monday 21 year-old Sergio Edwards of Illinois was found unresponsive in the water beneath a water slide. He later died at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Nineteen-year-old Tomas Larumbe drowned when he was reported missing. Responders found his body an hour later. At almost the same time, a woman reported that her husband dove off their pontoon boat into the lake and never resurfaced. His body was never discovered. The summertime is the most popular time of the year for families to enjoy themselves by going to lakes and water parks. Please pay attention to all safety precautions and to your surroundings at all times.
